Large French tureen with handles and a large applied wild hare, made of high alloy 950 silver. The surfaces are extensively guilloched and the flowers, tendrils and rocaille work is practically in relief, providing not only an imposing look, but also a unique valuable feel. The named large wild hare is chiseled in detail, almost lifelike. The lid also has two discreet monogram engravings.

The Second Empire, more rarely Second Empire, is a style of French architecture, urbanism and interior design during the reign of Emperor Napoleon III between 1852 and 1870. It thus falls into the stylistic epoch of historicism and was characterized by an eclectic mix of styles from neo-Gothic, neo-Renaissance, Louis-quinze, Louis-seize and Empire. Accordingly, this style is also called Napoleon III (pronounced Napoléon trois). The reign of Napoleon III is distinguished in France as the Second Empire from the First Empire of Napoleon I (1799-1814).
