J.D. & Sons (James Dixon & Sons), founded in Sheffield in 1806, was one of the largest British manufacturers of the Industrial Revolution. They were manufacturers of pewterware, galvanized Britannia metal, silverware, and galvanized nickel silver. Their products included hundreds of items for the kitchen (e.g. bowls, cutting tools) and dining room (e.g. tea sets, cocktail shakers and mixers) as well as items such as candle holders. They were world leaders in the production of shooting accessories in the nineteenth century and exported powder flasks in large quantities to America. They were known as pipe makers, which, like most of their products, were of excellent quality. Source:Wikipedia
