Peter Carl FabergĆ© (Russian ŠŠµŃŠµŃ ŠŠ°ŃŠ» Š¤Š°Š±ŠµŃŠ¶Šµ; b. 18 Mayjul. / 30 May 1846 in Saint Petersburg to ā 24 September 1920 in Pully near Lausanne) was a Russian goldsmith and jeweler. He became famous for his extremely ornate and masterfully crafted jewelry and decorative objects, especially the world-famous FabergĆ© eggs.
Karl Gustaf Hjalmar Armfeldt (also spelled Armfelt) born on April 6, 1873 – July 7, 1959) was a Finnish silversmith and FabergĆ© master craftsman. He was born in ArtjƤrvi, Finland.
In 1886, at the age of 13, he was apprenticed to the Finnish silversmith Paul Sohlman (1898-1904) in St. Petersburg. He became a journeyman in 1891. He studied at the art school for five years until 1894. He then worked as FabergĆ©’s master craftsman from 1895, using the ŠÆŠ mark. Armfeldt also worked for silversmith Antti (Anders) Nevalainen and became his closest assistant in 1901.
He became a master in 1904 and was given the exclusive opportunity to buy Johan Victor Aarne’s workshop. Armfeldt produced objects for FabergĆ© until 1916, working on projects like those of Johan Viktor Aarne, such as tiny gem-set frames, silver-mounted birchwood frames, hardstone frames, gem-set enameled gold objects, and hardstone-based silver figurines.
Armfeldt moved to Finland in 1920. He worked at Oy Taito Ab in Helsinki from 1922 and as technical director and designer at Kultakeskus Oy from 1925 to 1937, at Kunniamerkkikeskus from 1940 and at Hopeatakomo from 1945. Armfeldt died on July 7, 1959.
