Silberwarenfabrik Peter Bruckmann & Söhne was a silverware production factory founded in Heilbronn in 1805. The company’s artistic products, especially tableware and cutlery, established a reputation far beyond Heilbronn for the company, which had been family-owned for four generations. Peter Bruckmann, a grandson of the founder and co-owner of the company from 1887 to 1923, was chairman of the Deutscher Werkbund. In the early 20th century, very important artists and architects of Art Nouveau, such as Hans Christiansen, Peter Behrens, Josef Hoffmann, Joseph Maria Olbrich and Richard Riemerschmid worked for Bruckmann. Other well-known artists of this era who worked for this Heilbronn silverware factory include Wolfgang von Wersin, Hugo Cauer, Wilhelm von Eiff, Rudolf Rochga, Fritz Schmoll, Paul Haustein, Otto Prutscher, Otto Rieth, Paula Straus, Adolph Amberg, Karl Groß, Emil Lettré, the long-time head of the company studio Josef Maria Lock or his life partner Hélène Brandt. The important German industrial designer Heinrich Löffelhardt completed his apprenticeship at Bruckmann in the 1920s and was subsequently supported by a scholarship from Peter Bruckmann.
