Carl-Wilhelm Lutz and Friedrich Weiß founded a gold and silver jewelry factory in Pforzheim in 1882 in the legal form of a general partnership (OHG), which was converted into a family limited liability company (GmbH) in 1903. In the 1890s, the company expanded its product line to include silverware as well as doublé and small silverware, becoming one of the leading manufacturers in this field. At the beginning of the 20th century, before 1904, the company expanded through the acquisition of the Badische Silberwaren-Fabrik Karl Deible + Co. and the construction of a new factory building in Steubenstraße. Even before the First World War, the production program was supplemented by alpaca silver-plated hollowware and cutlery. During the Second World War, the factory facilities were completely destroyed during the air raid on Pforzheim in February 1945. After the reconstruction of the company, a jewelry collection enriched the traditional production.
