The Mercedes W25 was the 1st Silver Arrow, driven by Manfred von Brauchitsch, who won the Eifel Race at the Nürburgring in 1934. Originally, the Mercedes race cars always started white. In 1934, however, you had 1 kilo too much on the scales, the start seemed endangered. Alfred Neubauer, the Mercedes racing boss at the time, simply had the paint scraped off, saving the necessary kilogram. From then on, the Mercedes drove in silver – the Silver Arrow was born.
